Versailles State Park

Located in Versailles, IN, Versailles State Park is the second-largest park in Indiana and is less than an hour away from Schenck Mansion. It features numerous fossils which tell of the ancient sea that once covered the region. While you’re visiting, we suggest renting a kayak, rowboat, or canoe and spending the afternoon on the lake. Make sure you have a fishing permit if you’re hoping to reel in a big catch! There are also plenty of hiking, biking, and horse-riding trails available. Check the events calendar before you visit! Versailles State Park hosts tons of great events during the fall, like a pumpkin festival or trick or treating!

Clifty Falls State Park

Clifty Falls State Park stretches over 1,519 acres of land and feature creeks, canyons, and (of course) the waterfalls for which the park was named. The park’s trails are the biggest draw for visitors. There are 10 trails in total, ranging from easy to very rugged. Since Clifty Falls State Park is so large, hikers can see completely different vistas on each path. Check the events calendar before your visit to see if you can attend one of the park’s guided trails. If you can, attend The Waterfall Hike. It takes you through one of Clifty Canyons’ most scenic sections. You’ll be able to see five waterfalls during your hike as your guide shares facts and folklore from the area.
